  Attitude Development











It’s been said that attitude is everything.  This isn’t far from the truth.  How do you define attitude?  Is it just a negative connotation?

We at Best Solutions define attitude as our habit of thought.  It is made up of our values and beliefs, thus it controls almost 90% of what we do each day.   This happens without us even thinking about it. 

We form habits for efficiency purposes.  But how many times have those habits outlived their usefulness? 

Habits are more than just behaviors.  Smoking and weight loss are perfect examples.  Everyone knows what needs to be done to quit smoking or to lose weight, yet how many people fall right back into their old habits?

The same is true in the work setting.  Each day we begin work by typically doing the same thing.  Maybe it’s checking our e-mail, or getting a cup of coffee, or maybe it’s talking with co-workers about last night’s game.  How much time do we waste each day focused on activities that are not all that important?  What could we do with that time? 

Here’s the simple truth – our attitude drives our behavior which drives our results.  Our behavior cannot consistently contradict our attitude.  So if you want to change the result you are getting, you have to ultimately change your attitude, or your belief system about the situation.
